REPUBLIC OF PERILO WEATHER SERVICE

The Perilan Weather Service gathers weather observations, makes and disseminates forecasts, issues warnings of severe weather, and conducts climatological research.  The Perilan Weather Service is the primary source of weather information for the armed forces and for other government agencies.

The National Forecast Office is located at Douhet Air Base in the capital.  The single doppler weather radar is located at Douhet Air Base.  Twice daily observations are conducted at observation stations at all Military installations, Perilan Constabulary Barracks, and civil air fields, and these observations are reported at 0900 and 1900.  Forecasts are prepared and issued by fax or teletype at 2400 and 1200 to each observation station, the National Emergency Operations Center, the National Rescue Coordination Center, and the central command posts of the military services, along with other subscribers.  Forecasts are also posted on the Weather Service Internet site.  Forecast products include river levels (daily), fire danger (daily during periods of high temperatures or drought), and dust or sand storm (when conditions warrant).

Warnings (development of sustained severe weather is forecast in the next 24 hours for tropical cyclones or river flooding is expected in the next 24 hours) and watches (conditions are favorable for the development of other types of severe weather in the next 6 to 12 hours, or for tropical cyclones or river flooding in the next 48 hours) are issued when required by developing weather conditions.

All observation stations display flags as appropriate to alert the general public to developing dangerous weather conditions.  These flags include:
