REPUBLIC OF PERILO MINISTRY OF TRADE

The Ministry of Trade regulates and promotes commerce and industry within the Republic and develops export markets for Perilan products internationally.

DEPARTMENTS:

• Securities Commission - regulates corporations, including incorporation, regulation of permitted activities, and reporting.  The Securities Commission provides the commerce and industry representation for disaster preparedness and response. 
• Department of Economic Development - identifies international markets for Perilan products and services and actively promotes export business development.  The Department also identifies industries in which Perilo has a significant interest and develops external interest in investment, either financial or by the development of actual facilities, in business and industry in Perilo.
• Department of Mines - regulates and promotes the development of the surface and subsurface mining and oil industries in the Republic, including inspection of mine facilities and enforcement of environmental laws through administrative sanctions.  Operates the National Mine Rescue Service with three mine rescue teams, two specialized for underground mine rescue and one for open pit mine rescue.  The Department also operates the Petroleum Pipeline Police, a 25 member law enforcement agency that protects petroleum pipelines from sabotage.
• Department of Heavy Industry - the Department promotes the development of and regulates the heavy industries of the Republic, including heavy equipment manufacture, chemical production, shipbuilding, vehicle manufacture, and the production and distribution of energy.
• Department of Forest Industry - protects the national forest resources of the Republic and regulates forest industries, including logging and eco-tourism (in conjunction with the Department of Tourism).  The Department operates the Forest Ranger Service, with 100 Rangers, which conducts law and regulatory enforcement activities in forest areas and supports border defense activities of the Ministry of Defense (in wartime) and the Customs Service in the Great Forest.  The Department provides three specialist Wildland Fire Service Task Forces and a National Wildland Fire Overhead Team for response to wildland fires..
• Department of Tourism - promotes Perilan tourist destinations, both internally and internationally, and supports the development of the tourism industry.  The Department of Tourism operates the Tourism Highway Police, a separate law enforcement agency with 48 uniformed personnel command by a Captain.  The Tourism Highway Police patrol the Transnational Highway and other National Highways to provide assistance to individual motorists and tourism buses and identify and take enforcement action against those conducting criminal activities or predatory business practices against tourists.  In states of national emergency the Tourism Highway Police augment the Perilan Constabulary.
