The Geological Survey of Perilo is the national agency charged with the mapping of the Republic and the exploration of the geographical, geological, and hydrological characteristics of the landmass and the waters of continental shelf.  The Geological Survey was first established in 1878 as the Geographical Survey Office of the colonial administration.

RESOURCES

The Geological Survey has a staff of 114 employees with its headquarters located in Glencoe and branch survey offices in Port Stanley (for Lake Stanley and Great Forest operations), Georgetown (for continental shelf and Big Muddy River surveys), and Astoria (for desert survey in the Great Waste and exploration of the geology of the mountain ranges and volcanic fields).

The An-30 survey aircraft support the National Weather Service with tropical cyclone reconnaissance flights on request.  In wartime, the aircraft come under the tactical control of Air Force headquarters for service as strategic surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft.  The  PEN (Perilo Examina-Navi) Darwin augments the Navy during wartime.

 

COMMISSIONED CORPS:  Scientists, aircraft pilots and navigators, and licensed ship's officers employed by the Geological Survey are members of the Geological Survey Commissioned Corps and hold rank titles according to the Perilan standard Uniformed Services Rank structure based on their level of employment within the Survey.  The Director of the Survey holds the rank of Captain First Rank.  Commissioned Corps officers augment the Air Force and Navy in wartime.
