REPUBLIC OF PERILO MINISTRY OF SPORT AND CULTURE

The Ministry of Sport and Culture is responsible for the preservation and development of the culture and for the protection of cultural treasures of the Republic and for the development of sport as an integral part of the life of the citizens.

DEPARTMENTS, AGENCIES, AND MAJOR PROGRAMS:

• Department of Antiquities - conducts archaeological explorations and collects, catalogs, preserves, and studies artifacts of the ancient history of Perilo.

• National Parks Service - operates the system of national parks, including both historic sites and recreational areas.  The Service operates the Park Ranger Service, with 122 Rangers, which conducts law and regulatory enforcement and public safety activities in National Parks.  

• Monuments and Museums Commission - operates the public museums of the Republic and provides standards and grant funding for privately operated museums.  Also maintains fixed monuments to important people and events.

• Perilo Olympic Sports Council - responsible for the development of Olympic sports programs to develop elite competitive athletes to represent Perilo at international championships and the Olympic Games.

• Strength through Sports for All Program - develops programs for all sports at the community level, including Olympic sports (those currently represented in the Olympic Games program), other widely played sports, and traditional Perilan sports (including Singlestick, Shin Kicking, and Gurning).  Sponsors a series of recreational sports events at the local, provincial, and national level to encourage wide participation in sports and physical fitness activities.
