SOP 8: DISASTER MANAGEMENT FUNCTIONS

1.  Purpose:  This standard operating procedure establishes standard functions for the coordination of disaster response.  These functions allow designation of lead and supporting agencies for response to specific types of disaster impacts and provide a framework for planning.

2.  Application: The Disaster Management Functions will be used as a standard framework for planning and coordination by the Ministry of Extreme Situations and will apply to the work of other Ministries and other governmental or non-governmental agencies. Provinces and local jurisdictions are encouraged to use the Disaster Management Function structure for their own planning and operations.
