REPUBLIC OF PERILO NATIONAL MINE RESCUE SERVICE
The National Mine Rescue Service is supervised and managed by the Department of Mines in the Ministry of Trade. Volunteer personnel for mine rescue teams are provided by mine operators and serve as mine rescue team members on an on-call basis. The Department of Mines pays a stipend for training and alert duty and hourly wages when called out.
Standard composition of a mine rescue team is two shifts of 8 personnel (5 primary rescue team members, a briefing officer and operations supervisor, and 2 alternates). Team shifts are on alert for one week on, followed by one week released. If the Alert shift is mobilized for an actual rescue, the released shift is placed on alert. The Department of Mines provides each Team a specialized transport and equipment vehicle.
