REPUBLIC OF PERILO MINISTRY OF JUSTICE

The Ministry of Justice is responsible for the transparent and public administration of justice in the Republic.

DEPARTMENTS, AGENCIES, AND MAJOR PROGRAMS:

• Office of the States Attorney - provides legal services to governments and government agencies at the national, provincial, and jurisdiction levels, including representation, issuance of legal opinions, assistance in drafting public laws and regulations, and other services as required.
• Supreme Court - the 11 member Supreme Court is the senior court of the Republic, serving as the ultimate court of appeal in both criminal and civil matters.
• Department of Courts - administers the lower courts of the Republic, including provincial and jurisdiction courts.
• Prosecution Service - provides public prosecutors and staff at the national, provincial, and jurisdiction levels of government.
• Court Security Service - the 235 person Court Security Service is a law enforcement and security agency charged with the protection of the courts, judges, and prosecutors.
• Department of Prisons - operates the National Prison in the National Capital Region and the four Provincial Penitentiaries in Portsmouth, Pickett's Ferry, Victoria, and Astoria.
