REPUBLIC OF PERILO MINISTRY OF THE ENVIRONMENT
The Ministry of the Environment protects the environment of Perilo by assuring air and water quality, the control of hazardous materials and wastes, and the restoration of the environment when damaged.
DEPARTMENTS, AGENCIES, AND PROGRAMS:
Department of International Programs - responsible for ensuring compliance with international environmental standards and treaties. Within the Department the Bureau of Industrial Environmental Compliance monitors industrial emissions and the pollution credits program to reach Kyoto Protocol goals.
Department of Hazardous Wastes - establishes and enforces standards for hazardous waste collection, storage, disposal, and accountability. Inspects hazardous wastes facilities, including both agricultural and industrial facilities. The Bureau of Hazardous Materials Transport establishes standards for the transportation and storage of hazardous materials that are in use for industrial or agricultural processes waste and provides technical advice for response to hazardous materials incidents.
Department of Environmental Quality - establishes standards for air, water, groundwater, and soil quality. Conducts inspections as required to assure compliance with standards and initiates remediation measures when required.
