REPUBLIC OF PERILO RECOGNIZED SETTLEMENTS
The Settlements Act of 2007 was passed by the legislature and signed into law on 5 January 2007 to provide recognition for longstanding communities within the Republic that did not meet the requirements for designation as places of Classes I through VI.

050.1. General: This public law provides for the designation of certain longstanding communities that do not qualify for designation as Class I, II, III, IV, V, or VI jurisdictions as Recognized Settlements and provides authorities for their operation as governmental units within the provinces of the Republic.
050.2. Authority: Communities designated as Recognized Settlements may:
050.2.(a). Elect a Settlement Council to govern the affairs of the community subject to the laws of the Republic and ordinances adopted by the Provinces.
050.2.(b). Enact such ordinances as may be necessary for the general health and welfare.
050.2.(c). Provide basic governmental functions for the good of the population, to include the ownership of or contracting for the provision of basic utilities.
050.2.(d). Employ a Marshal to enforce the criminal and traffic laws and any settlement ordinances.
050.2.(e). In conjunction with the Ministry of Post and Telegraph establish a post office in a commonly used and open access building.
050.2.(f). Organize and maintain a volunteer fire and/or ambulance company and appoint a civil defense officer for the protection of the citizens.
050.3. Character of a Recognized Settlement: To be designated a Recognized Settlement, a community must:
050.3.(a). Have been in existence for at least 5 years as a community with at least 25 citizens living within a 1 kilometer radius.
050.3.(b). Have a name that is in common use to describe the community.
050.3.(c). Be associated with an identifiable geographic or transportation feature or have some commercial enterprise or religious, civic, or educational building that serves as the recognized center of the community.
050.4. Authority to Designate: The Minister of the Interior shall designated Recognized Settlements and their boundaries when he or she is satisfied that all conditions of the Act are met and that such designation is in the best interests of the Republic.
As of this date the following communities have been designated by the Minister of the Interior as Recognized Settlements:
